26' RESCUE VESSEL CONCEPT FOR LEE SHORE BOATS

This vessel is designed to engage in rescue operations in protected and partially protected waters with a maximum of 10 persons aboard and associated gear. Top speed loaded is projected to be 27 knots. It is designed to satisfy US Coast Guard Sub-Chapter T (vessels that carry passengers) requirements for stability.  The hull form is characterized by having a fairly fine entry, a single chine and 15 degree deadrise angle at the transom.  There is a single spray rail at the approximate quarter beam point and a 4” wide chine flat that will help the vessel get on plane and deflect spray downward and away from the vessel.  Propulsion is provided by two 115 horsepower Honda outboard motors, though larger engines are an option if greater speed and thus quicker response time is desired.  A 100 gal (379 liter) fuel tank is located under the weather deck and will provide approximately 4 hours of operation at 27 kts.  A greater range can be expected at a slower cruising speed.
